Karel Knížek

Researcher in the Laboratory of Oxide Materials, Institute of Physics of the CAS, Prague.

Employment and foreign stays:

Research

  • Spin Seebeck effect in hexagonal ferrites.
  • Spin transitions and related structure anomalies in Co-perovskites LnCoO3 (Ln = La, Y, rare-earth). Determination of the character of the excited spin state of Co3+ ion and interpretation of the magnetic and metal-insulator transitions based on the LS-LS/HS-IS model with the help of electronic structure calculation and measurements of thermal dilatation and magnetic susceptibility.
  • Structure properties of Y-type hexaferrites (BaSr)2Zn2Fe12O22 and their relation to ferroelectric properties and conductivity.
  • Determination of the grain size of the magnetic nanoparticles with the help of X-ray diffraction.
  • Magnetic, charge and orbital ordering in Mn-perovskites.
  • X-ray diffraction and structure refinement over the temperature range 90 - 1200 K.
  • Electronic structure calculation using the Wien2k program package.
  • Software for thermoelectric properties measurement.
